Our journey so far…
Moving to Shropshire and buying Middle Farm has become our long awaited dream to escape to the rural countryside.
Marcus spent his childhood on the family farm in Norfolk before his corporate career in London and wanted to get back to grassroots. Middle Farm couldn’t be further away from that frantic life, getting away from the stresses and strains of commuting.
Amy grew up in an old water mill in Lincolnshire and ran an outside catering company, amongst other small enterprises, for several years whilst renovating a series of old houses and bringing up our children Dotty and George. The kids have just now now left home… and now it’s our turn!
We are looking forward to welcoming both returning and new guests to Middle Farm in this beautiful tranquil corner of England.
A Brief History

Since Late 2023 Marcus and Amy swapped corporate London for the Shropshire Hills in 2023, dedicated to sharing this restful heritage retreat and smallholding with guests.

From 2008 After centuries as a sheep and cattle farm, Middle Farm became a smallholding, focusing on rare breeds and conservation with the cottages evolving into a luxury retreat.

Since 2001 Middle Farm starting welcoming guests in the early 2000’s, evolving from a working farm into a restful retreat with 3 self catering cottages.
Early Beginnings
Dating back to a 1253 royal township and former medieval holdings of Haughmond Abbey. The current Grade II-listed stone farmhouse largely reflects 16th century architecture architecture, while the surrounding fields were defined by the 1790 Inclosure Acts. The site gained later fame when Monk Bletherus, an Orthodox monk, founded a hermitage in a derelict barn. Today, it serves as a restored holiday retreat, merging deep agricultural roots with unique monastic history.
